In just a few months, look for the Guinness to start flowing from the taps of WJ Morriseys & Sons Irish Pub in Buffalo.

The Buffalo Planning Board, during its meeting Tuesday, approved some minor changes that will clear the way for the pub to open next year. Morrisey's is located at 26 Mississippi St., almost one block from HSBC Arena.

The bar, which is being developed by Dennis Brinkworth, is the latest part of a multi-phased redevelopment effort spurred by Savarino Construction Services. Carmina & Wood Architects P.C. were retained to design the 4,000-square-foot eatery.

Savarino, in conjunction with Avalon Development Co., is converting a series of early 1900s warehouses into offices, upscale apartments and restaurants.

WJ Morrisey is considered one of the development's anchors.

David Pawlik, a Savarino vice president, said he expects construction to begin next month with the bar ready to serve customers by the spring.

WJ Morrisey's will have the feel of an authentic Irish pub with many of the materials being imported from Ireland.
